Breckland Council is calling on local businesses to help make Norfolk a better place to do business; by answering two questions in a study on the economic case for dualling the A11.
Atkins Transport Planning has been commissioned by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) to do a study on the economic case for dualling the road. The study is to include the implications on the economy and residential growth in the area.
The Council is asking for as many businesses as possible to respond to the questions below, in monetary terms where possible, for a powerful economic case.
1. Instances where a business has had to bear a greater cost, (either capital or operating) directly as a result of congestion on the A11.
2. Instances where business expansion or growth has been hindered by the A11 - this could be lost contracts, unable to recruit suitable staff etc.
Anonymity will be retained. Businesses are asked to contact Robert Bayley of Atkins Transport Planning with their comments on 01223-814173 or Atkins Transport Planning, 6 Wellbrook Court, Girton Road, Cambridge, CB3 0NA.
Alternatively, businesses can register their comments using
this link before the end of November 2007.
Paul Claussen, Executive Member for Economic Development, says: “The dualling of the A11 is essential not only for the economic growth of the region but also to reduce accidents. We need to have a dual carriageway link to the national trunk road system to improve transport between Norfolk, the UK and Europe.
“Cambridge has attracted big businesses due to its road links and Breckland Council and the REV project are lobbying hard to finish the A11 dualling which will benefit the whole of Norfolk. Please help us make our case.”
