BBC Correspondent opens EAME 07
The first ever Norfolk event to showcase high-end engineering and manufacturing in the region took place at the Hethel Engineering Centre on Thursday 13th September.
The Exhibition of Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering (EAME) was attended by over 300 visitors, who were given the opportunity to network, share best practice and find out first hand what the East of England has to offer in terms of engineering and manufacturing excellence.
Supported by REV and HAAS, and officially opened by local BBC Business Correspondent, Richard Bond, the event included a number of presentations from regional companies, an exhibition including leading businesses, training providers and business support agencies. Visitors were also wowed by a number of specially arranged demonstrations from the likes of Tesla.
The event, to raise the profile of the Centre as one of the regions ‘enterprise hubs’ included the official opening of the new HAAS and Arburg Suites, containing the latest developments in rapid prototyping and engineering technology, and the high-tech NT CADCAM room, which is available for training courses through Hethel. Visitors had the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a trip in the Tesla Electric Sports Car and demonstrate their driving skills on a Honda F1 simulator.
The winners of the Hethel Centre 2007 Launchpad competition were also announced, with two companies - Coatiseal and Sonerlink winning 12 months free rent of a workshop each.
