A little history of REV

The REV project took nearly 2 years to develop, involving many people from various partner organisations and considerable research. Breckland Council prides itself on thorough and high quality project development, and this principle has been applied to developing REV. We are therefore confident that REV provides a holistic tailored set of products specifically targeted at addressing the challenges and gaps in provision faced by SMEs in motorsport and advanced engineering in Breckland.

The development phase of REV has involved a huge amount of desk research and considerable interaction with the business community. This has included interviews with sector champions and conferences designed to identify needs within the industry. REV has been developed to directly plug these needs.

The development of REV has been led by the Economic Development team at Breckland Council. We would like to credit the following officers at Breckland Council for their assistance in pulling the project together:

• Mark Stanton, Economic Development and Regeneration Manager
• Ray Johnston, Asset Manager
• Lynda Pope, Senior Accountant
• Jane Hackett, REV Development Co-ordinator
• Ralph Burton, Economic Projects Officer
• Lindy Warmer, Business Skills Advisor
• James Taylor, Objective 2 Facilitator

In addition, the following people were involved at a strategic level on the Project Board:

• Paul Claussen, Executive Member for Commercial Operations (Breckland Council)
• Andy Wright, Operations Manager for Commercial and Community (Breckland Council)
• Laurence Brooks, Performance Plus Partnership

We would also like to give a mention to all the organisations who have helped us develop REV to this stage. They are too many to name individually, though we must give a special mention to Chris Haworth at Carter Jonas, representing Crown Estates.

To develop REV in such a thorough manner required funding. This funding has come from Breckland Council, Crown Estates, Shaping Norfolk’s Future and EEDA. This money was used to employ an officer in a consultancy capacity for 12 months solely to develop REV. The funds were also used to fund a demand study for Thetford Enterprise Park and a branding exercise for REV.
